last visited about 5 years ago, great portion sizes still, shame about the rpices, IIRC nearly 4 1/2 quid for a salt beef with mustard!!! Chola still good, as was the apple danishes. An institution, rightly so, but not cheap any more…

What a wonderful piece of social history. Loved it. It’s been many years since I visited Brick Lane, but did a case study on it – and the London Docklands – when I did my degree, so a place close to my heart – and helped me get my BA Hons.

I have never had dinner at Claridges but like that lady I would prefer a salt beef beigel. Smoked salmon and cream cheese – not so much!

It’s interesting to hear how the accents from less than 30 years ago have changed. People don’t speak like that any more.

Does anybody remember the tiny backstreet/upstairs Indian “restaurants” in the area? Not unduly concerned with any food safety regulations or licensing laws but totally authentic.

May I say that these are the best bagel in
London.When I’m in the area always try and visit. However really sad to hear the news of the family death a yr or two ago.
