Deliveries of food have been very, very difficult in rural areas.

Your innovation inspired me to collate the handful of my local suppliers and pass them on to our Community Hub who are emailing all who must not go out, together with contact details of brave volunteer shoppers.

Not nearly as good as yours, but my discoveries span the spectrum of all dietary needs :
Deli, Fish, Butcher, Farm Shop eggs, plants & vegetables.

Sadly for me, no hardware but l’m having fun adapting the use of anything to hand. My wardrobe door is a now potting shed table and l’m growing seedlings in half an egg shell full of compost resting in their boxes

Doreen Fletcher’s art provides real nostalgia from when l actually called on those convivial corner shops, supplying the everyday provisions within.
It was rarer back then to see a female travelling sales person, especially in the huge East End wholesalers.

Could l ever have imagined in the 80s, that l myself would experience rationing and shortages, mainly due to other’s greed, on top of the pandemonium.

l covered a very special territory :
the West End, East End, the City and the Isle of Dogs.
Full of history, full of hilarious characters (some dodgy ones ?) and full of traffic.

The fellow Londoners l encountered every day and their storytelling & wisecracks made those happy decades special and memorable for always.

. Knowing that a proper food delivery is coming on Sunday at last, l can relax and read or garden.

What’s heartbreaking to me, is that these are all, all 60! of these are the small businesses that make life in some neighborhoods a joy.

And all are run by sturdy, mostly friendly folk, much behind the scenes, ones who rarely cut a f&$%ing break.
