This is a wonderful record of how this house was restored to be lived in with such an incredible collection. Thank you GA and Philippe.

T&T have long since moved and I see – via Rightmove – the house is again for sale once more, with particulars showing little change to the fabric of the house shown in Philippe Debeerst’s evocative photographs. – very different furnishings now, but the spirit of the original light touch restoration remains.

It is lovely that these rooms can live on in magnificent photographs such as Philippe Debeerst’s, and, of course, the Gentle Author’s wondrous blog.

I never really noticed before, but it looks like those two dusted regularly. What a chore!

I first saw this house on a social media post and fell in love. The history that this house holds is phenomenal. It deserves to be preserved and admired for many more years to come.

The only place I could compare it to is Hearst’s San Simeon (I’m from CA, USA). But this is every bit as good and it has a sense of humor, it also has a human scale.

How amazing, and strangely enough, the sight of a modern laptop didn’t look incongruous at all to my eyes. For me, a place to visit, but not to live in, as I’m pretty sure some of its contents might give me nightmares

The house was definitely sold, but whoever bought it seems to be very discreet.
Tim Knox is now the Director of the Royal Collection, so perhaps he has had an opportunity for another historic house to restore!
