I learned to love eels. And spitting the bones onto the road was fun too, at that age. Now, the only eels you seem to becable to buy are Bradlys. They’re ok’ish, but not a patch on Tubby’s.

On the way back we stopped at Tubby Isaacs at about 11.00 p.m. There were dozens of rats running around like pigeons, nobody took any notice of them. We stood and enjoyed our eels with them running around our feet.
