Love your blog! Do you have any references or sources that give details about the pandemic associated with the Aldgate pump? I’ve found references that describe the taste, the contamination, and the conversion to piped water, but n0thing that gives details about the pandemic, other than “there was a pandemic”.

A notice has appeared on the hoarding surrounding the conservation work, stating that it is being cleaned and repaired where necessary. Also, interestingly, the notice announces that the crowning lantern is going to re-instated.

Wouldn’t it be great if ‘renovation’ actually meant that it became a provider of clean drinking water again – especially now that we are all supposed to be using refillable bottles…

Shrouded for renovation? That doesn’t sound good, considering all of the other “renovations” that have been happening.
