The mention of exploding beer bottles brought back one of my memories of the war.
The large Ind Coope brewery at Romford was hit by bombs in the blitz and the bottling dept and main store room was set on fire, for two days we heard small bangs from the exploding bottles and loud booms from exploding barrels
