I used to go round his home after school and then go out and play football over Victoria Park and his dad was sometimes there. No doubt you would have heard the well known adage about their “polite”language. He was certainly a larger than life character , a big man , rough and ready in his ways but never a nicer man could you meet. I never heard one expletive. He was a true gentleman. I remember how much my friend loved him as a father.
