I remember meeting Stanley in Christchurch and we worked out that his ancestor had been the sexton and left just before my Spitalfields family needed burying there. A very tenuous link I know – but meeting Stanley was delightful.

What a wonderful story. And what a charming man Stanley sounds. Would love to go and meet him. Been to Christ Church often, with and without groups, but never on Tuesday. I will put that right. Read his wonderful story and that great ballade. I will certainly tell all my groups about it. Hope to come along on a Tuesday to see Stanley, as well as having a crummy cake in the cafe!

GA, what a great story about John Rondeau, his genealogical quest, and his devotion to Christ Church Spitalfields. I am glad to learn that the church is open during the week. I plan to visit London in June and will try to make a visit there some Tuesday when he is on duty.

I feel that I know the building which provides the backdrop in so many of the paintings/street scenes that you have featured over the years. Merci…
