Hello! Could I ask where you got the three Blake images? I'd love to learn more about them but am not finding very much information online. Do you know where these are currently held / what collections they belong to? Thank you!!!

I inherited a toy Pollock's theatre, I'm not sure of the date but it was in with a doll purchased in 1903 of which I knew the provenance, a 1890 Girls Own Papers annual and selected stereoscopes of around the turn of the century. There were no actrs with it, alas, but being in my early teens I had great fun making some, including the cast of Evita, which I subjected my family to, with the aid of the double album vinyl .

In the 90's my younger brother went to London for a half year to do an apprenticeship at a 5 star-hotel; my parents and I decided to accompany him on the way and stayed there for 3 days. On the second day we went to Covent Garden and I was totally enchanted by two things there: The Cabaret Mechanical Theater with automates and Benjamin's Pollock's shop! It was truly magical :) I was surprised shops like this still excisted.
Unfamilier with toy theatres I purchased several ones as a gift for friends and a paperdollbook. Later a friend moved to London and while visiting her I went to Pollock's shop again bought a book about making paper theatres, later I made my own toy theatrecard for a Beauty and the Beastmailinglist I was a member of as a Christmascard(its on my website)
Later I discovered papercrafts on Internet and am now a collector and sometimes maker of Theatres and paperdolls. Thanks for posting this pleasant memory :)

Ah, those two magical words "toy theater". As someone who loves to make them, I can attest that all phases of the activity are wonderful -- Selecting the sheets, construction, the set-up, etc. What I really enjoy is the "I can't stop myself" phase when I start looking around for extras to extend the fun. I once made a miniature ladder out of barbeque skewers to facilitate the backstage "crew".
Thank you shining a spotlight on this arcane and totally-delightful pastime.
Take a bow -- center stage, of course!
