She was a great friend and one of the best singers I have heard. I have a cd she made at the Pizza on the Park and I would be very interested to hear from anyone who has other recordings of her.

Hello, I would very much like to contact you. Myra phoned me once when we were both 16 and she had been asked to sing with the Bill Crowe orchestra and as we were both in school and in those days such things were forbidden she asked me to accompany her, as she said they would expel one of us but not two. That night she introduced me to my husband. There is a lot of family background I would like to discuss with you and look forward to being in touch.

Myra was my heroine.

She invited me to her little flat in Bethnal Green and to her kingdom at E.Pellici and I experienced what it is like to go to dinner with a Queen.

I told Myra my g-g-g-grandfather William Beetham had painted the portrait of her g-g-g- grandfathers Te Puni and Wi Tako Ngatata and purposefully given them great mana in the painting ‘Sale of Wellington’ as they were his friends and she said “Oh Toby, how nice I have more family here in London.”

Then she invited me to hear her sing at the Victoria pub in Highgate. She followed on from the cockney Frank Sinatra and her boyfriend Cliff who was a pianist in the Shadows, accompanied her.

Her singing was amazing. It filled the room and her lungs were so powerful.

But the thing I loved about Myra most of all and which inspired me most of all was Myra was born with entitlement and royalty, had she desired to seek that lifestyle, but instead she chose to traverse the world and get herself a degree so she could teach underprivileged East End kids and help them to get into University.

Myra Love RIP. You are my heroine.

Thank you for that. Myra was an old family friend and I can only add that she was as wonderful and lovely in real life as the article conveyed. Although we had not seen her in a few years can say she will be missed!

Myra was a very old and close friend of my mother ( Claire Bland ) and known and loved by us all. Have spent many evenings with her in the Palm tree on a friday night when, after 11 she would get up and sing a few jazz songs. I remember being at her party celebrating her 70th birthday, which only seems like yesterday. I also have a number of 45rpm discs of her singing with a group led by Tony Haynes ( Grand Union ).
Please, if not too late send me details of the funeral as I would like to attend.
