I used to sell to Dave Ackerman at his Ackerman Buttons store in the 1980s – he was elderly then, it’s so good to see his rickety old shop so affectionately remembered.

Such wonderful prints – I live on Ropery Street now & it’s so interesting to be able to see shops such as Haslett’s and the Post Office as they used to be, as they are now converted into flats

Hello, were you at the Bishopsgate library last tuesday around noon and handed me a document about huguenots in Spitalfields? Later, back home in Paris i saw a small documentary on Youtube and recognized you. How strange: meeting the author of one of my favorite blogs in such a big town! Atractive shop fronts are important to their owners as it helps pull in customers. Its like a book a good jacket or front/back cover attracts buyers. Janet is a project person her screen prints are outstanding they will be historically important, she has shown a wealth of sharp detail better than photos. Many or all of the shop fronts will be gone soon its a fast moving scene. I expect its not commercially viable to produce massive numbers. In away, Janet has done her bit saving an art form of the End End for posterity. Copies will be museum bound I hope. Lots of London Pride shown here. Poet John
