One of the many joys of looking at great narrative photos: Letting the images spark stories, curiosity, longing, suppositions, and more. The youthful, compelling faces here invite THAT kind of dedication and well wishes.
I have a group of old black and white photos of my husband’s gang on the streets of Hell’s Kitchen in Manhattan in the early Fifties. Street urchins, all. The way they press together, arms around each other’s shoulders, comic books gripped in-hand, and many-times-turned cuffs, and ragged shoes — priceless evidence of a well-played youth. Lucky for me, I know the outcome of each of these lives, and honor the “boy” inside each man. And salute the mean streets that were their playground and home turf.
This blog is a continual place of sharing and learning — Many thanks for your dedication, and the daily sparks of invaluable inspiration.
