I was introduced to visual research by Alf Daniels at Hornsey College of art in the late 60's. He was a gentle soul who encouraged but didn't push. I came to love his his work the off the cuff moments captured with an eye for meticulous observation. The humanity in his work runs deep and it is time he had an exhibition of his London.

Really sorry to hear this. I like some of the work, particularly the Gramophone man. However looking at the paintings there is a stronger likeness to the American artist Ben Shahn rather than Lowry?

I must have missed the earlier features about Alfred Daniels, because these splendid pictures struck me as fresh and surprising. The benign influence of Edward Bawden is discernible in Daniels' meticulously organised views of London markets. I much admire his drawings and sketches; the complex geometry of figures and buildings in 'Old Montague Street & Davenant Street' stiffens the sinews and quickens the pulse. What a pity there isn't a published monograph or catalogue of Daniels' work.

Good bye & thank you Alfred Daniels 'Danny' Donyon for your extraordinary artwork. I particularly like the cat portraits, big rounded plumpy doe eyed pussy cats and his wonderful chaotic beach scenes glowing with colour and activity. When I did my BA Arts I discovered Alfreds works and he helped me discover myself and my own style. It is a beautiful experience to stand in front of an original Daniels artwork, quite takes the breath away as you are swept into the scenes and the colours bounce off in all directions, captivating.
