I have only just discovered my 5 x g grandfather was William Mears. I am so thrilled because I started bellringing at the age of 69 four yeas ago and love it. I have always liked the sound of bells, being lulled to sleep by St Ann's Tottenham's Whitechapel bells. My family think I am a bit odd with my passion for bells and wonder where it comes from, now I know, it's in my DNA. I am a Member of the Western Branch of the Yorkshire Associaltion of Change Ringers and also the Halifax Archdeaconry Guild of Change Ringers. I have rung in many towers around the country ( 40), including weekly ringing at 3 local towers and I have done 5 quarter peals but I am a mere novice and intend to continue 'tll I drop - every week is a challenge with something new to learn; bellringers never stop learning. Is there any way the last owners of the foundry can be contacted and can the public still get a look inside the foundry my ancestor owned and worked ?

Belatedly, sad news indeed. Very best wishes to you all for the future. Cannot believe that you
are looking younger than in the 90s. Good to read Rachel’s message. She has just moved to
New Malden close to another ex-pupil of yours. The violins still play!
