We English are superb collecters. I too collect and it amazes me what some of us have in our homes. This collection of fireworks is a credit to any collecter (fabulous!) Such a shame the gunpowder has to be removed and what did you did with it all ? I can imagine. Looking at your collection brings back many happy memories of my childhood bonfire nights, when Guy Faukes night was still a big event and me rushing up to the quaint old Victorian shop that would be stocked high with fireworks of all kinds, shapes and wonderful colours. I hope you find a good home for your special and unique collection. Thank you for sharing, was an absolute delight.

Just after the war we couldn't get fireworks, there was one shop in High Holborn used to sell their own, Ellisons I think the shop was called mainly known for novelties like sneezing powder & stink bombs, but the fireworks weren't much good, no bangers just flame like different colours. We acquired one year some pellets from flare guns which we'd put on the ground and put a match to. Britain was a deprived place to live just after the war, fireworks were a luxury we were not privy to.
