My Godson 'adopts' retired greyhounds on a regular basis, but based on what he has told me, I don't think that you should take one home however much you might love them unless you can provide lots of exercise for them. Chris is a fell walker and rock climber used to walking miles at a time so he can give his all the exercise that they need, at the moment I think he has three!! One of his early adoptees won over his father who had previously always insisted that he hated dogs; father was recovering from a triple heart bypass operation and the dog would lie beside him on the sofa keeping him company for hours on end and Sid soon fell in love with her!! Needless to say Chris took her out for regular runs across the fields as well.

This is a glam side of greyhound racing the pics are nice. Most owners treat them as family pets. I am more interested in the after life of these majestic dogs. Greyhound rescue do a good job in rehoming/welfare. Some dogs do not get loving homes ?where do they go. These dogs are soppy and smart they will nudge your hand and they like a warm duvets with odd walk or two or maybe three. John B. PS I was in a pub once something kept nudging my leg under the table !I looked down and saw a pair of smiling whippets eyes looking at me through the gloom that was really nice, of course, I smiled back.
