There is also an old mulberry tree at my old secondary school, Mulberry School for Girls in Tower Hamlets. I'm sure the school wouldn't mind sharing it's history We enjoyed tasting the fruit in summer, and of course it is also the colour of the school uniform there.

I originally had typed "What is the social significance of a Mulberry suit to British society" and this article appeared. As I am committed to learning one new thing a day I decided to continue reading and am happy I did! Thank you for providing your research to the public.

What a pleasure to read this brief history of London's Mulberries. Thank you. It is packed full of fascination and has really sparked my interest and imagination. Being able to dip into such a well written and engrossing (his)story is a real tonic for me personally right now. I am reading it knowing that the Bethnal Green Mulberry is to be saved which is fantastic news. It seems more important than ever to value such gems as these which enrich our lives in ways we should not underestimate.

My parents moved into a top floor flat at 53 Lewisham Hill in 1959. They lived there until about 1979 ish . There was a Mulberry tree in the garden there. I do not know if it is still there but we used to pick the Mulberries and they were great to eat. But stained our clothes and our parents used to get annoyed with us for ruining our clothes. My mate and I used to go to his house and make Mulberry pies when they were nice and ripe. Loved them.

We have a very large old Mulberry tree in our garden in Felixstowe. Our house dates from 1710 so it could be quite old. I would love to find out more about it’s history if anyone can help? Or how to find out when it was planted. We’re in Mulberry season now! I pick them to make jelly, cordial & cheese.
