I love reading these posts and fascinated by the biscuit. Henry was a railway clerk before he enlisted, his father was widowed prior to the 1911 census so I think it must have been his wife who was the lucky recipient.

An interesting walk around London but you seem to have missed the most obvious place – Bread Street itself. So named because it was the bread market of the medieval City and the birth place of two of our greatest poets – John Milton and John Donne. I must visit the St John Museum when I have time.
