I know some of these men, they’re “old school” in every sense of the term, honorable, honest and full of character and a credit to their generation.

What a wonderful article, what lovely people. Dignity is indeed the word that comes to mind. I am quite ashamed Britain does not look after our poor better, though it is great to hear of everything these men have done and achieved with what they have.

Good article. I can understand their longing for home. I have spent more time here in Germany than I did in England, but home for me is still the East End, near the docks, and the houses which don’t exist any more. Valerie
