Reading of East Coker and evacuees reminds me of my own unique position: I am a Welshman, born in South Wales, who met evacuees from London but only in passing. My family evacuated me from South Wales to just south of London … and yes, we got bombed! Consequently I am now more Dell Boy than Max Boyce. I did return to live in Wales…. but … 75 years later!
