Visiting the East End markets in the 1960’s, I was always fascinated by the spielers and
they’re patter. I wonder if this has disappeared?

yet another piece of the china tea service on his head! Etc, etc.

How well I remember leaning out of the car window in the 50’s as we passed the Yardley factory to sniff the lavender odour. Dad always wound the window down but was it just imagination?! Did they really perfume the air?
