What a fascinating and rich history of both people and places. I've just finished reading a novel, but based on true stories around the Bryant and May factory girls and its grounds during WWII. In the acknowledgements at the end of the book, it mentions the cablestreetcommunitygardens webpage, hence my google search which brought me to this post, so thank you again Gentle Author. My list of places to visit just gets longer....
I've been a passionate garden most of my life, including having an allotment at one time. I particularly like the 'resourcefulness' of allotment holders, ie. bicycle wheels utilised for frames etc.

It's very nice to read about a group of folks who all share a passion for gardening. There is something so relaxing about having one's hands in the dirt, tending to plants, and enjoying the fruits of one's labor. I think there is nothing that tastes better then plucking a tomato off the vine, sprinkling it with a bit of salt, and biting into it.
