A fascinating story! — We all have this here in Kassel too. The location is called “Hans Wurst” and is existing for decades now. You get there the best so-called “Berliner Curry-Wurst” (a special sausage with curry sauce). I had one just yesterday — delicious !

Invented was the “Berliner Curry-Wurst” in Berlin, but in Kassel you can receive this original nowhere else but here! The owner of “Hans Wurst” did have such an stall also in Berlin for many years … His stall is also a meeting place for everyone!

I did a painting of Sclater St a few years back and I loved the atmosphere there. You didn’t have to be trendy to be welcome.

I lamented at the time about 'regeneration' being for the just area and not for the people who populate and add the character that makes it so special.

I love those wee vans with the big butane cylinders propped up outside. I always paint them if I get a chance.

I even did a blog.

The spot formerly occupied by Paul will (after the rebuild) no doubt be the site of yet another wine bar or prestige ? coffee shop, (because there's a bit of a shortage in this area ! ! ) but by the time all that happens in a year or so most of the people who used Paul's stall will not be around to lament it's demise because "ordinary" ? people are being kicked out of this area on an almost daily basis to make way for all the exiting ? ? new developments that are being SLUNG UP, I mean skillfully constructed in this formally particularly historic part of the East End that will soon resemble an area that look's about as unique as, ? ? ? well, ? ? ?
