My grandmother lived in Howard Buildings until they were evacuated during the war. She never really talked about it so its great to hear about the area. Her name was Irene (Renee) Tarman.

Micky has brought back all the wonderful old memories of our childhood in Spitalfields,
the YPF and Christ Church that had such a great influence on us all. Great people like Mr Ralph and his wife, Skipper, Miss Guess, Miss Hodges, Miss Ward Mr Gee and so many more.

I so much like reading the stories of Spitalfields, Whitechapel etc. thank you so much for your efforts in bring this to us….

My own Gt Gt Gt Grandfather lived at 3 Colt Lane in 1847 and it was through him the family came to London from Bedfordshire c 1809. Sadly John ended up in the Union Workhouse, Charles St.Whitechapel (Mile End) in 1871,
From then on my ancestors were all born Stepney, Whitechapel,Bethnal Green, Shoreditch etc. so your stories and photographs are of great interest…….
