Dad was responsible for the Tocqueville name and his family were most certainly not Huguenots but Mum’s paternal Grandmotherwas descended from a Valentin Macaree who arrived in Canterbury circa 1610 from Vallenciennes.

Seeing a lollipop lady again reminded me of my own childhood in rural Bedfordshire. Dee is always smiley, even in the pouring rain. I’m 32 and she often stops traffic for me on my daily commute. Dee, I salute you!
