I worked with Thierry once – not that we ever met, and he may not even know of it.

I work in children’s television and, seventeen or so years ago, was employed by a Germany company to create a show based around his Berlin wall paintings. They flew me over to see them and we ended up with a series about an inner city child, his street truncated by a leftover chunk of wall, who escaped his drab day to day problems by going into the wall and another fantastic land, inspired by Thierrys iconography.

Whether they ever actually told him they were doing this was never made clear and the show never made in the end, but it’s nice to see that he is still painting and now in my own back yard!

Fantastic — and yes, the art of Thierry Noir is, so to speak historically! And against the "cold war", which unfortunately is returning at present ...

Wow! Fascinating stuff. We were in Berlin last year. It is all new now and you can hardly imagine what it was like in "black and white" then but of course you can see the remaining wall with photos of the concentration camps, Jews rounded up, Nazis, etc etc on the wall. I saw the film Wings of Desire a while back at around when it came out in 1987. The film was in black and white to begin with and then it emerged into colour later on in the film. The film is poignant and rather painful to watch but beautifully made by Win Wenders. So it is quite amazing that the exhibition has arrived in London for us all to see a little bit of old Berlin.
