I must have been in there 45 mins, as he wasn’t too steady on his feet, but he did a great job, plus his stories were magnificent and he even knew my late aunt and uncle who lived close by in the 1970s. Most people don’t live to be that age, and to see him still working was remarkable. A great character.

He came with his nephew Eddie who I know. What a character he was lovely. I have a great photograph of Aaran with me. I nicked one of his chips which the landlady of the pub had bought him at the book launch. He also signed the page he features in The London Album. I’ll treasure both forever.
