Just want to say I am new to Angela Flanders fragrances but I am SO impressed. Far more seductive and with much more staying power than many relatively newer ‘trendy’ brands that cast themselves as an alternative to the big names. I love Guerlain, Caron, Annick Goutal for example and have tried newer ‘modern’ brands, hoping to find a wider range of fragrance, but in the end many modern brands seem feeble in comparison…though they sell for a hefty price! For example today I sprayed a very expensive oud by a brand I won’t name here and two hours later it has completely disappeared from my skin. In contrast, Angela Flanders perfumes don’t disappoint; they have the originality I’m searching for with the longevity and impact of the classics. A brilliant perfumer.

What a good article, really captures a sense of Angela, her modest but confident approach to her work and her way of tying in the threads of history and knowledge that enriches her work and are so much part of her. She’s a fascinating, talented and inspirational woman, her perfumes really are quite special.

So great to see Angela featured, quite a character. I worked for many years at Nom (102a Columbia Road) so would see Angela every weekend ‘pootle’ by, as she say, and we would chat about this and that. A rare shop and a rare lady!

I have never had the slightest interest in perfumes and perfumery, but how well does Kate Griffin make this perfumer and her passion spring to life with a lovely balance of biographical insights and the guiding precepts behind, and the instincts in, all her work – not to mention the charming touches about local history and the architectural heritage of the area.

Lovely article. I first read about Angela back in the Nineties. I contacted her and she sent me a bottle of a special spray she had made to combat moth problems. I wonder if she still makes it.
