What a lovely chap Jack is. I'm certain that he's had his fair share of hardships but he still seems to have had a charmed life!
My great grandparents got married just down the road from where Jack was married. In Bloomsbury.

Save Clerkenwell FS !!!

Sadly do not always get a chance to read your wonderful writings on a daily basis, but this one caught my attention.

Such a fulfilling and worthy life, modest too. I agree with Madame Bordello, noble indeed!

Do they still make them like that anymore? Only a few I think ...

Yes, what is happening about the Fire Station?

Thankyou Gentle Author for this wonderful heart warming story this morning of Jack Corbett. Well thats certainly a life well lived. Contrary to what Jack may think, I find him more noble than starchy - they certainly dont make em like that anymore. And what great pictures. I love particularly the one of Jacks parents Charles and Ann, what wonderful smiles. Love it.
And by the way, cant we do anything about the closure of Clerkenwell Fire Station ???

i love to hear the centenarians talking about time. how wonderfully spruce and vital he is, from the picture as a boy, through the wonderful pix of his sparkling parents, the amazingly good wedding photo -- i've never see one like this, in which everyone looks so good == and it all went like clockwork. love to think of him in his sitting room overlooking the flowers, and the pic with the younger firepeople all happy to think they'll live through the blitz to be 102.
thank you so much. my mother would be 103. i miss her.
