i never met david robinson, but i did write to him requesting information concerning the boxers who were at repton when i was captain 1967 to 1977,but never received the courtesy of a reply.i did point that out to mark newman at babs burns funeral.as i already posted it was great to see my peers who incidently voted me captain, at the funeral.thankfully i have managed to get in touch with nearly all of them .stracey and maurice were my weight but i never reached their fantastic levels, however john h and i used to spar with vic andretti at the thomas a becket, that was a great experience, and we did that on top of our regular training at repton, sunday mornings.there were many pugalists at repton with a better record than me,although mine was not too bad 168 contests,42 defeats all on points ,never stopped knocked out or disqualified,i won 126 contests 43 inside the distance.bill cox asked me to join repton after i beat johnnie shepherd in in the london junior championships.i am glad to see the current repton boxers doing well, however i believe the repton TEAM OF 1967 TO1977 WAS THE BEST EVER.happy new year to all at repton and to RAY TABI, STEVE PEGG,JOHN WALDRON,MARTIN WITHE JIMMY JEFFRIES,DAVID ODWELL,ALEX GOWER ,GRAHAM MOUGHTON,BILLY TAYLOR JIMMY FLINT DEREK HOLY OAK,ROY HILTON,MAURICE HOPE ,JOHN H STRACEY DAVID ODWELL TONI TACCHI,MARK NEWMAN,MELVIN MEADE,RILEY KIRSH AND DAVID NASH TONY BURNS AND GEORGE ODWELL. was THERE a better team than this?

Met Dave Robinson on the train to Newcastle via London did not know any thing about the guy but he talked passionately about Reptonboxing club what a character really enjoyed talking to him , at least we had something in common him being a stonemason, and me being a humble Bricklayer

I have no connection with boxing or The Repton Boxing Club other than I enjoy watching the sport, visit Brick Lane every now and then - oh, and once got my car towed away outside the club in Cheshire Street.
But wow, what a well written, fascinating insight into Dave's interesting life from which emerges a totally dedicated man who has clearly worked hard protecting and supporting his family and others.
Just loved reading about Dave's life which delves so deeply from his humble beginnings through his struggles to ultimate success with his champion boxer son and the Repton Club.
Totally awe inspiring accompanied by a lovely collection of photos that enhances his story. Beautifully done and a great lesson for everyone. Keep up the good work Dave - you're a gem!
I'm sure that your family and friends are really proud of you.... I certainly am!
