A couple of years ago I was a volunteer teaching basic budget cooking to single men, some unemployed, others on disability benefits. A couple of the chaps who came along had suffered head injuries, a third had a back injury and a fourth was recovering from a heart attack. As the weeks progressed so did their confidence and I learned all sorts of things about them.

It was a great experience for me as well as them and we all enjoyed eating the food for lunch!
