Why was it called Arnold Circus? Most of the film was shot in Calvert Avenue – it should have been called “The Boundary Estate” or indeed “Calvert Avenue”. More time could have been devoted to the tension that may have arisen since the place is becoming or has become gentrified, rather than wasting time by inserting exerts of old black and white film of “Oliver Twist”. It did allude to a problem but appeared to brush it aside.

No mention of the fact that the bandstand park was closed to the locals for most of the 1940’s and ’50’s and the children played on the streets and bomb-sites.

What a lovely, spirited lady. My mother, who’s a similar age, grew up in nearby Huntingdon Buildings.
