I have belatedly heard of Larry Barnes' passing. I spoke with Larry at St Martin-in-the-Fields every year, and have fond memories of him entertaining guests at a Crisis for Christmas night shelter in Bermondsey. Larry showed me a quite unexpected kindness for which I will always remember him. My heartfelt sympathies to his wife and daughter and the myriad friends who will so sorely miss him.

Dearest Dearest Larry,

Never to be forgotten as truly loved by all that knew him as a kind, hilariously entertaining and multi talented man with a cheeky humour.

For over 27 years a true friend to me met when I was for 15 years the Magicians assistant to Hector Robinson (MIMC) the son of the great Chung Ling Soo. We all enjoyed numerous chinese dinners and Magic Circle occassions together.

I hope today that Larry and Hector are on a cloud sharing decades of happy memories, lots of laughter and inventing new magical illusions !

Daily still missed.

I had the honour of being asked, by Irene and Katie Barnes, to read at Larry's Memorial Service on 16th May 2012 (his Birthday). Larry was an outstandingly talented man and nobody admired him more than I. Larry was the most generous person and became a Mentor to many of us. Not once did I hear him complain about where he was placed in a show or which songs he was asked to perform - Larry was just a joy to work with and to know and I feel very very privileged to have known him in this life.

I owe "Barns" more than I care to rember. A fellow member of The Magic Circle. When I went trough a defficult time, Barns was there. He gave his time and fellowship. When I trod the boards of the Cabaret Circuit, he was my Mentor. It's all been said sharing trade secrets and all those little touches that turn an idea into a performing art. I am proud to call Barns a true friend.

Fondly rembered - sadly missed.
