For a lot of that time I worked in the City, so I remember the IRA bombings very well, in particular the one that went off by the Baltic Exchange. I was far from home and as soon as it was on a newsflash my dad phoned to make sure we were OK. I just remember getting off the train at Fenchurch St on the Monday morning and seeing all of the windows of the Commercial Union building all blown out from a distance and the blinds fluttering in the wind. Everyone walked to work in silence, you could have heard a pin drop. It was so very eerie.
