I love both The Box of Delights and The Midnight Folk – they are so pacy, everything moves forward so quickly and you get drawn along, rather like Kay himself. I think they are as good as any of Masefiled’s poems. I agree with Sue – I think The Midnight Folk is a little more perfect.

I love the blog, and Paul’s illustrations, thankyou!

‘Time and buttered eggs wait for no one’. One of my favourite Christmas reads, but I always feel let down by the ending.

The Dark is Rising by Susan Cooper is my favourite Christmas read. It’s an exciting tale of ancient magic, Arthurian legend and snow. I recommend it.
