A small school with two teachers. Hillary and Chris.. I personaly learn photography, maths, english, cooking, screen printing, budgeting, video, writting, animation and so much more. Bearing in mind I had been place in various childrens home from the age of one. This small school set me up to become socialy aware and mindful. It drove me to spend the whole of my life working for charitys, homeless, refugees, alcohololics, name one ive probably worked for it. I joined the ANL:CND: Gang Intervention and many many more. I Stood as a child in Wapping High Street and watched as the mounted police rode through the Printers strike and with “the murial” and school. All I have is praise and repect for the the ethos that small warren of rooms gave me… Given my background I should have been a gang member, drug dealer, jail bird or even a victim or abuser… I turned out to be none of the above and it was ALL and TOTALY down to that schooling and school.. I remember Dave doing the mural . inspired me to do a mural in the alleyway to our classroom proberly long gone by now I remember being angry at the world and hating school but at the basement these wonderful people helped me tremendously .

I wonder if anyone from cable street can remember back in the 60’s, I’m looking for people of that era to see if they knew a gentleman born in Zanzibar called Juma Khamis AKA “Jimmy the greek” we believe he worked as a stoker on the ships and boarded at a seamans lodging house.

My great aunt was Mary Daniels who ran the sweet shop at 15 Cable Street. She was supposed to have been a real character of Cable Street before/during and after the riots. My grandfather came to stay there and my father remembers being taken there. If anyone has any recollections or information about what happened to Mary then I’d be grateful if you got in touch.

WAS DEEMED TO BE A SLOW LEARNERS. ANYWAY I HAVE A LOT OF RESPECT FOR
DAN JONES. HE USED TO COME & SEE US &WAS A GREAT HELP TO ALL US KIDS.
A LOT OF US WERE FIRST GENERATION DUAL HERITAGE KIDS& WERE FROM BROKEN
HOMES. I MY SELF CAME FROM A G.L.C. &TOWER HAMLETS CHILDREN’S HOME.
