My dad, John Stewart, was Assistant Manager and Manager at Simpson in the 80’s and 90’s. I have memories of going to meet Dad at Simpsons after work. Later when I had learnt to drive I would go up to pick dad up after an evening event. I’ve heard many a story of the place being haunted, I refused to go up the stairs to the top floor. The saddest day was when the place was gutted following a fire that started in the alleyway. I remember dad having the melted coat hooks put back up afterwards. My dad retired in the late 90’s and sadly passed away in 2016. The Jamaica Inn, the George & Vulture and Simmons all hold lots of memories for me.

Love the place, my Grandfather and Great Uncle used to eat at Simpsons in the 50’s, 60’s & 70’s…..

Since 2001 to the present day (I am having breakfast there tomorrow!!) I am eating and entertaining clients there….following a splendid tradition.

Lovely food, staff and atmosphere…

My father inlaw ran Simpsons for many years just before it closed for the redecorations and employed Jimmy. It is so lovely it has not changed and yes, all the girls are lovely!

Sadly miss April who posed for the calender to raise money to beat the dreaded big c, was claimed by it after a long brave battle. I am sure Maureen has taken her smile wherever she has gone x

A wonderful, informative article,can find little on SIMPSONS online,past history,that is; it was bombed out in world war two.
My grandfather,Charles Smith and his father John, were involved with the business in Victorian and Edwardian times. The 1922 staff picture is a gem…

I visited Simpsons at Cornhill several times in the 1970’s from Australia and I am coming back again probably in September so I will certainly be coming for lunch. I absolutely was charmed and enchanted by the place, the history, the staff, the food and the customers.
I remember having to tell the taxi drivers that “No, I didn’t want Simpson’s in The Strand I wanted to go to Cornhill!”
I can’t wait to visit again so see you soon.
