Lobster and a jug of beer used to be the working -man's family treat of a saturday night. But now the Japanese fish lovers import all the best of our catches and we have to pay exhorbitant prices for the few lobsters they leave behind. They have miraculous recipies for the presentation of eels - especially cooked in the Osaka style. If I'd known what our hostess was serving I would have declared an allergy to seafood. Fortunately I did not and it was the first of many amphibian treats we enjoyed in Japan when we went to celebrate the wedding of dearaaand its people Kingi and Yumiko Kimura. ....and formed a never severed connection with the culture of Japan.

It makes me think of a few years ago when me and my dad used to go fishing of a night down the Regent's Canal. We use to catch Crayfish, Pike, Carp, eels, Roach and Perch. Such fun times, I ended up catching 135 fish in a year. I'll have to take up fishing again one day.
