WOW ! Thank you so much for this lovely article about cigarette cards. These bring back so many memories of when I collected them. My favourites were of the film stars and those of flowers of which I have only got one of the Wills cigarettes left and the flower is called " Lady Inchiquin " My favourites here in your article are Town Crier. Question - do they still put cards in packets of cigarettes today.? Such a pity if not.

The cards take me back to my youth in the '40s. Fag cards! We played games with them, winner takes all. "Stick 'em up" and "Flapsies". If I see a fag card of a cricketer it still sends a shiver down my spine. Very heaven.

When I was a child in the 1930's all cigarettes had cards in them. Many smokers threw away the packet with the card still in it. They were inserted between the foil around the cigarettes and the outer pack. All children picked up packets and looked for the cards. There were many series covering many subjects. The top of the range were made of silk.
