I read that Jil Cove has died – sadly so has the probation service that she and I knew nd toiled for.

as you pay homage to the people who have helped to create the history of spitalfields, i am constantly in awe of their achievements; it feels as if they’ve earned their way into a permanent presence in spitalfields, which now seems to be growing in a such a way that it’s keeping some people out of their rightful place
judging by the past, maybe there will always be a group of people who will continue to fight for their presence in an environment that is turning more and more hostile towards them
