Dear gentle author,
Your article in Spitalfields life from Jan 4th 2011 IMG 8454 refers to a manhole cover in Middlesex Street that has a design similar to a Star of David in the centre. I have now been up and down Middlesex street twice searching for the manhole, but cannot find it there or in adjoining streets. Can you possibly please check your records and advise me of the correct location of this manhole. The reason for my request is that my sister researched the subject and bought me at T shirt with the manhole cover printed on it, but sadly died the day after my birthday, before she could give me my present.
You may recall meeting my sister Irene when you came to interview our mother Elizabeth Gillard, about whom you printed an article in SL earlier, as she lived all of her 99 years in the East End.
Hoping to hear from you.

Kind regards
Stephen Gillard.
