Hello,
James is my cousin. I live in Salem,Ohio and have not had any contact with him since the early 1970's. I want to thank you for posting this article on your site. It has given me great insight into Jim's life and his amazing skills. I wish we had kept in touch throughout the years.
      Thank you again!

I've just discovered your beautiful blog and the wonderful article about Jim.
If he'd allow me to, I'd love to become one of the dinner ladies ... although it may take a while to deliver from Australia.

It is difficult to believe this unusual capenter sleeps in the attic, a bare and uncomfortable place showing the poverty of the silkweavers in later years. He is living in history and seems very happy there in the past. It will be a great loss to London when the generations of people in your blogs are no more....they all are fighting to keep old trades alive. In the old days apprentices or children carried on the skills but this hardly happens any more.
