The photos remind me of a book I have in a box somewhere – Homer Sykes’ portraits of the congregations at black churches in Britain ‘The Storm Is Passing Over’. I would love to see these ladies photographed in front of Yinka Shonibare’s ship in a bottle in Trafalgar Square. And I love the technical descriptions of the fabrics. I was surprised, during a year long stay in Australia, to find that over there household linens departments in shops are called Manchester departments.
