I wonder what they look like now? Years on, have they dimmed and dulled?

Maybe I’ll find out as I continue my journey through Spitalfields Life day by day…

(Those two weird people above though!)

I've just found your blog and I love it! You bring ROA's art pieces to life with the way you write it. I'm a Sixth Form student doing AS Art and this has really helped me find information about where some of ROA's work is. I look forward to reading more about him! :)

I love roa. think he is truly inspiring and my one and only soulmate in this whole world. His art is incredible and i love every way he creates his work. He is even better than the guy who cut his ear off. My love for him is undenyable and i wish i could hold him in my arms and run my fingers through his hairy belgian chest forever. He is delicious like a beautiful belgian chocolate...mmmm. I keep his work at my bedside and i've memorised every single stroke. I just hope roa sees this comment and notices me. I despise people like the people who have written the comments above. I think it is absoultley disgusting and inhumane to write ridiculous stuff like that. They have NO right to mock my Roa.I have covered my wall from head to toe with posters of Roa and his artwork and sometimes I like to look up to them and pretend that they're Roa and I smell them and talk to them as though he is there. I think that Roa would be the perfect boyfriend material and he will treat me the way I want to be treated and I think he has all the qualities I want in a man. I love you Roa, My soulmate xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

My name is libby ingham. When i saw roa's work i was speechless, it is the most brilliant think i've ever seen, so good i may just have a sexual attraction to it. His work reaches to the depth of my soul and makes me feel so alive. His work is a true inspiration for all and i religiously keep myself updadted about raos's work. I want to marry him and the dead rat he loves. He is my one and only true soul mate. Roa and Me forever! :)xxxx

I think Roa's work is truely inspiring. It brings a tear to my eye to see someone so passionate about dead animals. This is also my hobby, I collect dead animals and draw them and then use them for my sculptures. I used to think I was so alone in the world and I used to be bullied because of my weird habbits. It brings a tear to my eye to realize I am no longer alone.
It makes me so emotional to find someone else to passionate about the dead, Roa, I am your number 1 fan. x x x

Thanks, lovely pictures, I will try to get down your way to see them.

JohnB,

I spent a long time once for reasons that escape me listing which London roads with placenames have "the" added and trying to work out the logic. Never quite worked it out, think it's just a tradition thing.

Roa may make people see their surroundings in a new light, but, Gentle Author, your interpretation adds another layer of depth:

"For the most part, Roa places his animals in unloved, unrecognised corners of the cityscape that are the natural home for scavengers and vermin. But once these spaces are inhabited, the creatures become the familiar spirits of their locations, living embodiments of these places, and our relationship with them parallels our feelings about the streetscape itself."

That 'rabbit' is definitely a hare by the length of its ears. I love the way you preface Hackney Road with 'the' - mark of a true Londoner. Your blog goes from strength to strength. Don't forget La Rochetta (if it's still there....). :)
