I wonder if Beverly O’Connor is related to Eugene Patrick O’Connor who lived in Goulston Street
Aldgate from the thirties through to the fifties he lived with his mother Hannah and brother Jack? I am his son.

My family came from the East end before being evacuated to Lewes en masse in the war. My nan and the four children stayed on after the war but her two sisters went to live in a block of flats in Rotherhithe. I love to read your writings and think you do a wonderful job in recording such a vibrant and largely unappreciated history. Have you written anything about the evacuations of children from the East end?

Hello, I thought it was about time I said thank you for your delightful and diverse blog which I’ve been enjoying with my breakfast for long enough now to become my regular morning routine.
Though not a Londoner, I love the place and need to get my city fix every couple of months or so. SL gives me a glimpse of the bits I don’t get as a visitor. But, London life aside, it’s the writing you do so very well. Thanks a lot. Jo
