Spare a thought for those dearly departed souls (as in those who've departed London ?), only ever being disappointed, muttering "oh's" to the wannabe stoggy o's sold in not so super markets.

When I worked in E1 bagels were 13p. I'd cycle from Hackney on my way to work a couple of streets across.

You never know what you've got till you're 150 miles away from it. The next time I'm in London, I shall consider it a failure of character if I am not reacquainted with these bagels!

There is no other Beigel shop. Egg & tomata with liberals: peng. Chopped herring with gherkins: piff. Salt Beef with thin veneer or fat splodge: the business. Cheesecake and buttered beigel(s): essential. Thank God this place exists and praise be for the amazing blokes in the back and ladies up front, whose slightly kurt manner doesn't half help keep he queue moving in busy times! There is no better fast food.

Sorry Mandy, salt beef with a thin veneer of mustard must prevail. Secondary buttered beigel, to accommodate the meat which inevitably spills from the first, is recommended.
